Professional Development Center for Educators
Come join us in August 2020 to immerse yourself in the theory and practical application of the Bookworms K-5 Reading and Writing curriculum. This virtual summer institute will include two full-day sessions for new and experienced teachers of the Bookworms curriculum.
Register early! Each grade-level and leadership group is limited to 30 participants.
These professional learning events, led by the program author Dr. Sharon Walpole and her team of coaches at the Professional Development Center for Educators, will have specific tracks open to teachers, administrators, and coaches. For the first two days, we will work with teachers who are new hires in existing Bookworms schools. We will focus on what they need to do to prepare for the first month of school. For the second two days, we will work with returning Bookworms teachers. We will focus on ways that they can enhance and improve their practice as they greet the new school year.
Bookworms summer institutes will include two full-day sessions. A strong internet connection for full access to materials and videos is required for virtual training.
Teacher participants will be able to navigate the curriculum materials and implement the instructional routines in the Bookworms K-5 Reading and Writing curriculum.
Coach participants will gain a deeper understanding of the Bookworms K-5 Reading and Writing curriculum, including specific grade-level processes, and strategies for observation and feedback that build teacher competence and confidence.
Administrator participants will explore the conditions (scheduling, training, coaching and professional learning, and evaluation) that build Bookworms teacher expertise.
