2014 Elementary Science Writing Camp

(Grades K-3)

Delaware Writing Project invites students in grades K-3 to join DWP Teachers for an exciting writing experience.  Students will explore the amazing discoveries and worlds of nature and celebrate the smells, sounds, and sights of summer as they dip into their creative tool boxes.

    • DATES:  June 16 – June 20
    • TIME:    9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
    • LOCATION:   The College School
    • INSTRUCTOR:  Michelle Scott & Michelle Mash
    • FEE: $250 (checks payable to the University of Delaware)

2014 Digital Story Writing Camp

(Rising 4-8 graders)

This summer, the Delaware Writing Project invites students (grades 4-8) to join DWP Teachers for an exciting writing experience on the campus of the University of Delaware. For one week, students read, write and share their literacy experiences in an atmosphere of artistic freedom, intellectual challenge, technology literacy, and fun. We invite your child to join us!

    • DATES:  June 23- June 27
    • TIME:    9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
    • LOCATION:   UD main campus, Newark, DE
    • INSTRUCTOR:  Abby Joy & Sarah Llewellyn
    • FEE: $250 (checks payable to the University of Delaware)

2014 High School Writing Camp

(Rising 9-12 graders)

At the Writing Camp, you will work closely with a DWP Teachers and peers to learn strategies to use whenever you write, from the beginning of the process, through drafting and editing, to the final finished product.

The DWP teachers will introduce the following:

  • Activities designed to promote critical thinking, reading, and
    academic writing
  • Developing papers in detail
  • Using sources effectively & blending them into your writing
  • Developing a thesis and crafting an argument
  • Style and voice-spice up your writing
  • Effective strategies for analyzing, summarizing, and editing
  • Start a portfolio of academic writing
